Compression molding

Compression molding

is a process of molding in which a feeding material is placed into an open, heated mold cavity.

In this method, a double-bottomed mold is used, and in this way, both surfaces of the piece will be smooth.

In pre-preg method , material can be layered on both scale in a form of pre preg manually and then put the 2 scale on top of each other and shaped under pressure.

Compression molding is a pressurized, high-volume production method used to mold complex shapes of reinforced plastic parts Fiber glass which can be done in one cycle .

Compression molding can be done in a different types:

1- Sheet Molding Compound or SMC method

The material used in this method are mixed of a glass tissue and doughSaturated polyester resin .

2- Dough Molding Compound or DMC method

In DCM method there are mixed of glass tissue and doughy of Polyester Resin which are filled with different additives.

3- Bulk Molding Compound- BMC method

It refers to a compound based on isophthalic resin. Condensation is also done by MGO.

4- Pressure molding with wet layering. High temperature metal pressure molding is done inside large presses that are installed.

The molds are heated between 250 and 400 degrees Fahrenheit. This method is more expensive than an open molding method. The parts produced by this process include the following items:

Automobile, body of equipment and structural parts, household appliances, electrical parts, spare parts and shells of office machinery.
